Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an Administrative Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with Assistant Secretary for Administration, Office of Equal Employment Opportunity, Diversity and Inclusion (EEODI), to optimize business results and customer experience by: Providing executive support, including advisory, analytical, and coordination services to the Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) and assuring coordination of management initiatives, special projects, and daily activities for the Assistant Secretary for Administration. Serving as the primary administrative point of contact and liaison with other offices, individuals, and agencies on operational and programmatic matters concerning the DAS and EEODI. Ensuring all requests for action, whether by telephone or in writing, are appropriately handled by the incumbent or staff. Providing calendar management, exercising control over the RA's schedule with complete authority for commitments of time, making final decisions on appointments and conferences in accordance with the DAS's schedule.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: GS-11: Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service performing at least 3 of the following: 1. Providing administrative, customer service, and technical support to an executive leader and office. 2. Assisting with providing calendar management, arranging travel and preparing travel authorizations and/or vouchers. 3. Reviewing administrative policies and procedures to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of administrative operations. 4. Developing reports, memorandums, and procedures that articulate applicable information to provide assistance in completing tasks. OR Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (e.g.,LL.M) or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree at an accredited college or university in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work for this position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (official or unofficial) to support your claim. OR Have a combination of specialized experience/education as mentioned above. GS-12: Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service performing all of the following: 1. Providing a wide range of high-level administrative support functions to include high volume calendar management, arranging travel and preparing travel authorizations and/or vouchers. 2. Utilizing evaluation techniques and administrative concepts to make administrative recommendations aimed at improving the effectiveness of processes within the office. 3. Analyzing and resolving complex problems in administrative support and staff activities. Documenting experience: IN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE, PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
