You will serve as a BIOLOGIST in the PUBLIC WORKS ENVIRONMENTAL DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

GS-11: $76,860 - $99,914
GS-12: $92,123 - $119,760
Duties
You will write instructions and notices explaining compliance requirements for environmental laws.
You will brief officials (e.g., military, civilian, contractors, federal, state agencies) on matters related to environmental compliance.
You will develop alternatives to resolve problems related to resource management or environmental planning.
You will review planning documents (e.g., Master Plans, Capital Improvement Plans, Special Studies) to identify environmental problems.
You will develop conservation plans to resolve land use and resource conflicts.
You will conduct site investigations and surveys to determine feasibility of construction and remedial action proposals.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-12: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing guidance on Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, Rivers and Harbors Act, Coastal Zone Management Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Sikes Act, and National Historic Preservation Act for construction and community planning projects; 2) Managing natural resources environmental documentation for the successful completion of projects and mission related operation; 3) Evaluating proposed facilities and/or projects against environmental, culture resources and natural resources compliance requirements; 4) Developing mitigation measures for major environmental problems/impacts; and 5) Managing natural resources documentation environmental documentation for the successful completion of projects and mission related operations. GS-11: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting environmental regulations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local programs concerning environmental documentation for facility projects and community planning; 2) Developing documentation to address current and projected deficiencies and conflicting standards emanating from federal, state and local regulatory agencies; 3) Selecting, adapting or deviating from traditional environmental planning and engineering methods and practices as required by the nature of situation; and 4) Resolving problems for which accepted methods are not directly applicable by applying advanced environmental concepts, principles, and practices. - Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
