The incumbent of this position serves as an Information Technology Specialist for the Rosebud Hospital. The IT department at the Aberdeen Area Office supports the Aberdeen Area Office information technology systems, data networks, and telecommunication infrastructure.

Duties

Provides customer support services for the facility and outlying buildings such as hardware, software, systems, and networks. Coordinates service unit computer system operation and provides recommendations on systems operating procedures, data collection, data quality, and data integrity and backups. Manage the processing of incoming calls to the Help Desk via both telephone and e-mail to ensure courteous, timely and effective resolution of end user issues. Provides technical assistance to telecommunications systems users when requested. Assist with the development of an annual Automated Data Processing Plan to include future acquisitions of all data systems and upgrades.

Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Requirements: GS-09: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degreeor2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degreeor3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Experience Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Specialized Experience GS-9: coordinating computer system operations and providing recommendations on system operating procedures, data collection, data quality, and equipment environments. Assisting with the installation of new Automated Data Processing (ADP) technology. Transporting ADP equipment to and from vendor locations for repairs. Providing technical assistance to telecommunications system users when requested. GS-11: Installation of Automated Data Processing (ADP) technology equipment and systems and assuring maximum benefit from managing the system properly. Preparing operational guidelines for new software applications for implementation or testing. Providing evaluation of budget requirements for ADP systems. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
