You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST for the GROUND SAFETY PROGRAM of TRAWING ONE.

Duties

You will serve as the technical advisor on matters of Ground Safety and Occupational Health, provide technical guidance, recommendations, and assistance to management and the workforce on established safety methods and techniques. You will review of plans and drawings, adequacy of facilities, types of equipment/materials used, techniques and procedures and to recommend measures and techniques to resolve identifies hazards. You will evaluate the technical safety aspects of ground safety practices/operations and ensures compliance with safety codes procedures, regulations and approved safety plans. You will prepare technical reports to include messages and make follow-up investigations as necessary to determine if corrective action has been taken. You will review government employee mishap reports covering disabling injuries, fatalities, motor vehicle accidents, and property damages, and identify causes and possible safety violations. You will coordinate with activities to provide safety training. You will conduct routine safety inspections of physical layouts, physical hazards, personal protective equipment, materials handling and storage operations, to enforce full range of safety and occupational health laws.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting investigations of mishaps, incidents and hazardous conditions for a safety and occupational health program to evaluate current safety procedures and develop recommendations for eliminating accidents and controlling potential hazards. For the GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector reviewing inspection reports and studying data for a safety and occupational health program to identify hazards and unsafe conditions in support of eliminating accidents and controlling potential hazards. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-09:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

For the GS-07:
Successful completion of 1 full year of graduate level education in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR
Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
