This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration within the Office of Research Services. The incumbent oversees priorities and identifies, plans, and implements reference services, augmented processing projects, and research room procedures pertaining to textual records within the Textual Records Division.

Duties

As a Supervisory Archivist, you will: Provide administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit, particularly through collaborative efforts. Participate in planning the work of the unit, including formulating goals and objectives and identifying opportunities in methods, workflow, and procedures. Contribute to the development of new practices and standards. Advise and inform others on policies and procedures relating to work of the branch. Analyze training needs at the team and branch levels in order to identify or develop appropriate training. Initiate, establish, and maintain professional relationships with archivists, archives specialists, technicians, conservators, and other specialists in order to share resources and information and coordinate workflow within the unit, division, program, office, and agency.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Leading a team, program, or project; AND Collaborating and executing communication strategies, plans or policies to individuals; AND Managing multiple priorities. Examples of such assignments may include responding to inquiries, reviewing reports, recognizing errors, and reconciling problems. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F): For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.

Education

Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

A. Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.


OR

B. Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
