The primary purpose of this position is to be a responsible and valued team member in the Maintenance Operations Center dedicated toward meeting Air Mobility Command's mission.

Duties

Provides both present and projected status information to prescribed managerial personnel. Notes projected completion date, studies actual aircraft status and informs higher levels within chain of command when aircraft is to be mission ready. Through use of radio, telephone, intercom, e-mail, personal contact with production supervisors, technicians, review of work documents and statistical listings, determines status of aircraft. As daily events occur, maintains MIS data integrity regarding maintenance flying schedule requirements. Accomplishes aircraft debriefing to ensure malfunctions identified by aircrews are properly reported and documented. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

  • This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • May be required to travel by military and/or commercial aircraft to forward support bases for attendance of technical training courses or manning assist.
  • Subject to qualify for a operator?s license to drive military motor vehicles used at the work center.
  • Subject to working any of three shifts, rotating shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends.

  • Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of maintenance organizational structures and skill in the distribution of personnel to obtain a balance of work; knowledge of aircraft support equipment to include powered and non-powered Aerospace Ground Equipment; skill in the use of automated maintenance information systems (MIS) and aircraft maintenance documentation processes to collect, compile, and correlate production data from a variety of sources and use that data to determine compliance status of scheduled maintenance, inspection, and modification actions; knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspections, repair, modification, and supply processes. OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of maintenance organizational structures and skill in the distribution of personnel to obtain a balance of work. Knowledge of aircraft support equipment to include powered and non-powered Aerospace Ground Equipment. 2. Knowledge of and ability to interpret military aircraft and manufacturing terminology, technical orders, data, standards and instructions, and to relate them properly to the particular control projects assigned in preparing production plans and schedules and in maintaining effective follow-up. 3. Knowledge of and skill in the use of automated maintenance information systems (MIS) and aircraft maintenance documentation processes to collect, compile, and correlate production data from a variety of sources and use that data to determine compliance status of scheduled maintenance, inspection, and modification actions. 4. Knowledge and skill of appropriate production/technical processes and material posture of maintenance work centers to ensure continuing availability of material requirement. Knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspections, repair, modification, and supply processes. 5. Skill in effective written and oral communication. Ability to plan, schedule, and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular work load requirements. 6. Ability to correlate and analyze a variety of routine production data, technical manuals, and directives to determine applicability. Skill in training, operational and maintenance record keeping, both manual and automated. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
