This position is part of the Defense Media Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as a Supervisory Audiovisual Production Specialist and will be responsible for personnel management, developing, planning, providing guidance, direction, review and evaluation of worked performed by personnel assigned to multiple shifts. .

Duties

As a Supervisory Audiovisual Production Specialist at the GS-1071-12 some of your typical work assignments may include: Leads, manages and oversees the production of 11 AFN-BC channels, 11 AFN DTH channels, 3 AFN Direct to Sailor satellite channels, and supports DoD News taking direct feeds of events. Manages and directs multi-network programming from all major cable/satellite networks from news, sports, and entertainment industry sources throughout the continental U.S. Determines program change actions in concert with AFN-BC programming and operations managers in the event AFN-BC program scheduled television service is interrupted or jeopardized. Directs, manages, and oversees live production from 6 master control rooms; and coordinates recorded satellite, receiver, and playback material from the offline network control center. Directs, supervises, manages, and delegates daily duty assignments in master control and offline to several overlapping shifts on a daily basis, encompassing 30 plus government audiovisual production specialists, to include government contractor personnel. Communicates television operation systems status on a daily basis via the Daily Shift Report, to include all performance irregularities in relationship to the TV-OPS and DTH/DTS program distribution plan.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Plans, directs, and coordinates the acquisition, production, scheduling, distribution and broadcasting of a variety of United States television service formats to inform and entertain a military audience overseas. Performs the full range of leadership and supervisory personnel management functions to operator television production personnel. Directs and provides complex television broadcast services which facilitate effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of program operations and projects throughout a multifaceted broadcast activity. Utilizes a keen and extensive knowledge of broadcast news, sports, and entertainment formats; state of the art programming, production and network distribution methods to maximize audience viewership. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 1071 series. A. Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. B. Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work directly connected with the production aspects of the field(s) of the position to be filled. *NOTE: Failure to provide transcripts will result in you being rated ineligible for this position.
