About the Position: The work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well lighted, but usually noisy from food service activities and there is a danger of slipping. Must abide by personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures such as wearing a hairnet or hat and a clean uniform daily. Work shift will be 5:30 A.M.- 2:00 P.M. or 11:00 A.M.- 7:30 P.M.

Duties

Preparing food for meal service in large quantities to support the dining facility. Perform duties concerned with the preparation of regular and modified diet foods. Makes simple desserts such as baked custards. Portion food as directed for recipes using gram scale. Staff short-order cafeteria line. Utilize table of standard weights and measures. Stocks food on line, without help between regular meal times. Maintain accurate portion control and cleanliness. Cook individual items to order. Operate kitchen equipment such as grinders, steam kettles, electric urns, grills, etc. in accordance with safety regulations. Maintain work areas in an orderly and sanitary condition. Prepare and store food in accordance with proper sanitation standards as stated in the local preventative medicine policy.
