National Defense University (NDU) supports the joint warfighter by providing rigorous Joint Professional Military Education to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and select others in order to develop leaders who have the ability to operate and creatively think in an unpredictable and complex world. This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense via delegated authority by the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Duties

Serves as an expert-level, technical member of a software and application system development team responsible for design, development, maintenance, and overall application support for assigned projects. Conducts requirements analysis, performs feasibility recommendations, develops change proposals, and performs the necessary tasks to create new or modified software or application solutions. Uses appropriate development methodologies, as determined by the project guidelines, to modify existing or develop new digital solutions using O365, SharePoint, or Salesforce platforms. Responsible for the hands-on development and implementation as well as providing guidance and support to the application and software development team. Reviews technical literature and executive software guidance to maintain knowledge of new and evolving modifications, enhancements, and extensions to operating system and development environment.

Oral Communication- briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience. Problem Solving- identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade, GS-12, within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as software and application system development using O365, SharePoint, ServiceNow, or Salesforce AND IT-related experience demonstrating Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving as described in the vacancy announcement.
