This position is located within the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), Assistant Chief Information Officer (ACIO) with one vacancy in Silver Spring, MD.
Duties
As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) some of your specific duties will include:
Serves as Security Architect responsible for security requirements necessary to protect core mission and business processes.
Develop various programs, projects, documentation, plans and results.
Provides advice and guidance concerning information assurance and security to management officials.
Applies In-depth knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of IT project planning, management, monitoring, and evaluation.
Qualifications
Qualification requirements in the vacancy announcements are based on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook, which contains federal qualification standards. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

To qualify at the ZP-5 pay band or equivalent GS-15 grade level:
In addition to meeting the IT-related Competencies above, applicants must also possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZP-4 or GS-14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following: Reviewing, evaluating and monitoring security programs designed to minimize system vulnerabilities, impact of new systems or system changes against configuration management, architecture, and network security standards and requirements; and Leading programs/projects analyzing security methods and systems of the protection of IT systems.
