About the Position: Serve as an Editor (Printed Media) for the Combined Arms Center, Leader Development and Education, Command and General Staff College, Command and General Staff School, Dept of Command and Leadership.

Duties

As an Editor (Printed Media), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list: Serve as an editor for the Command and General Staff School (CGSS), responsible for editing and coordinating printed and digital curriculum products produced by the school and its teaching departments. Provide editorial guidance to authors and manage department copyright functions. Coordinate the reproduction and distribution of curricular materials. Ensure consistency of the publication and other doctrinal literature.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance throughout the duration of employment.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY), approximately 5% of the time.

Specialized experience is defined as: Work which include grammar guides and writing practices to edit, and rewrite written articles for publication in addition use of educational standards for digital and analog courseware design as well as web-based learning management software, and Microsoft Office automation and file sharing software. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this position you may qualify if your education meets the definition below:

Education: Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position;

OR

Combination of Education & Experience:
Applicants may possess a combination of education and experience to qualify at the GS-9 level. Compute the percentage of the requirements that is meet, and the total must be 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.)

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
