THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a RANGE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D1134000 and is part of the KS 235th Regiment, National Guard.
Duties
As a RANGE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, GS-0301-09, you will oversee range activities as directed by the Range Control Manager. These activities include coordination of the range maintenance program in order to ensure fully operational ranges. Oversee the scheduling of ranges via the automated Range Facility Maintenance Support System (RFMSS). Ensure that ranges scheduled via the RFMSS do not conflict with the operation of other ranges or scheduled maintenance activities. Ensure all range operations are conducted to Department of the Army (DA) standards established by applicable DA weapon systems field manuals and technical manuals. Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

Requirements
- KANSAS ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within one year of appointment.
- Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

Qualifications
Military Grades: E5 through E7
Compatible Military Assignments: Immaterial
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience, education or training in any position that required compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Applicants must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management. Experience developing administrative procedures.
Physical Demands
Work is primarily sedentary. Visits to the range areas may involve long periods of standing, bending, and stooping to observe and view range operations.
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. Regular visits to range areas may involve moderate risks and discomforts. The observance of safety precautions is required.
