About the Position: Serves as the Foreman over the Section. Supervising work projects to include the loading, assembling, packaging, renovating, modifying, breaking down, and demilitarizing gun shells, bombs, cluster bomb units, mines, and rockets, which may be performed within any of 25+ production facilities.

Duties

Plan distribution, prescribe deadlines and sequence of work on a day-to-day or project-to-project basis for subordinates. Explain all work requirements, methods, procedures, specific hazards and safety precaution to all personnel. Ensure all personnel, materials and equipment required for operations are at designated work site. Review work in progress and upon completion. Perform performance management including but not limited to setting performance standards, scheduling and approving leave, counseling employees and position management.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
  • This position is a Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
  • This position requires an Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AAE) Security Certification/Screening in accordance AR 190-11.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, you are required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Performing Explosives Operator Supervisory duties such as giving instructions to a number of employees in accomplishing trades and labor work associated with ammunition, explosives, and ammunition component production line operations; relaying instructions received from supervisor, demonstrating safe/proper work procedures, checking work for compliance, and providing status reports - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Lead or SuperviseAbility to Operate Safely (Non-motor Vehicles)Ability to plan and organize workAmmunition and ExplosivesAmmunition and Explosives MaterialPerformance Management Physical Effort Frequently lifts objects weighing 30 to 40 pounds. Some assignments require lifts above 60 pounds at a production pace. All lifts over 50 pounds will be assisted with a two person lift or using a mechanical handling equipment lifting device. The two persons lift limit is 100 pounds and will only be used for single event, non-routine lifts. May pull or push hand trucks weighing several hundred pounds. The work requires sitting, walking, bending, reaching, crouching, and long periods of standing. Endurance and eye-hand coordination are required to work at a set pace and rhythm for long periods. Working Conditions The work is usually performed indoors and outdoors in covered areas or passageways, which provide some protection. Work areas are usually well lighted and ventilated. Some operations cause uncomfortable steam and heat in the work areas. Operators are required to stand on floors made of concrete, lead, or conductive composition. They wear protective closing such as specially treated coveralls, respirators, and goggles on many assignments. They are frequently exposed to moisture and wet floors as a result of cleanup operations in powder areas. They are exposed to the possibility of explosion and flash fires. There is a chance of injuries ranging from loss of life or limbs to burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, and nausea.
