Duties
This position is located within the United States Department of the Interior. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Office of Strategic Policy and International Affairs.
At the full performance level (GS-11) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Coordinates the international travel process, including performing quality checks, working with travelers to complete required steps in the travel process and ensuring that appropriate travel documentation is provided.
2. Plans and coordinates administrative mission critical functions of the Office of Strategic Policy and International Affairs.
3. Provides assistance in the budget process and actively solicits team input. Analyzes and organizes budget information for staff.
4. Reviews and approves fund certification of procurement requests for goods and/or services for the office.
5. Gathers and analyzes information and contributes to reports.
6. Collects and disseminates weekly reports regarding all international travel activities and meeting plans.
7. Performs quality checks on international travel documentation and edits briefing documents submitted by travelers.
8. Performs timekeeping for the office.
9. Develops administrative systems and guidelines in compliance with the office and agency needs and objectives.
10. Manages both electronic data and paper documentation and coordinates with program and regional staff to ensure all documentation is complete.
11. Assists in the update of program databases, completion of forms, letters and reports. Researches and drafts responses to requests for information from a variety of internal and external sources.
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the employee may be allowed to telework with supervisory permission.
Salary Information for Washington, D.C. and Sterling, Virginia
GS 09, Step 1: $64,967.00 to GS-09, Step 10: $84,441.00 per annum.
GS-11, Step 1: $78,592.00 to GS-11, Step 10: $102,166.00 per annum.
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the specialized experience for the series to which you are applying.
Specialized Experience GS-09:
To qualify for the GS-09, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:
1. Providing assistance in the budget process and actively soliciting team input.
2. Gathering and analyzing information and contributing to reports.
3. Developing administrative systems and guidelines in compliance with the office and agency needs and objectives.
4. Coordinating travel processes, including performing quality checks, working with travelers to complete required steps in the travel process, and ensuring that appropriate travel documentation is provided.
MUST MEET THREE OUT OF THE FOUR STATEMENTS LISTED ABOVE.
Education can be substituted for specialized experience at the GS-09 as outlined below:
Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or L.L.B. or J.D., if related.
SUBMISSION OF TRANSCRIPTS IS REQUIRED IF SUBSTITUTING EDUCATION.
OR
Combination: A combination of specialized experience and education that totals 100% of the experience requirement.
SUBMISSION OF TRANSCRIPTS IS REQUIRED IF USING A COMBINATION EDUCATION AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE TO QUALIFY.
Specialized Experience GS-11:
To qualify for the GS-11, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Substitution of Specialized Experience for Education if you have achieved:
Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree or
Three (3) full of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or
LL.M., if related
SUBMISSION OF TRANSCRIPTS IS REQUIRED IF SUBSTITUTING EDUCATION.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience:: Only education in excess of the first two years of progressively higher level graduate education toward a Ph.D. or the equivalent doctorate degree may be used toward this combination (example: 2.5 years in a Ph.D. program (50%) plus 6 months of specialized experience (50%)=100%).
SUBMISSION OF TRANSCRIPTS IS REQUIRED IF USING A COMBINATION EDUCATION AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE TO QUALIFY.
