This position is located in Redwood National and State Parks, in the Maintenance Division.

Duties
MAJOR DUTIES:
1. Utilize a variety of materials, tools, and equipment associated with the repair and maintenance of structures and grounds.
2. Perform minor plumbing repairs of limited difficulty such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures.
3. Perform minor carpentry repairs of limited difficulty to buildings and quarters. Construct, install, repair and replace such items as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets.
4. Perform routine maintenance at different sites and visitor facilities, to include cleaning restrooms, and making minor repairs as needed.
5. Receive, unload and process incoming shipments according established procedures, and report discrepancies and damage to others responsible for such items.
6. May perform other duties such as painting equipment, masonry work, roofing, welding or assisting higher grade worker with maintenance of utility systems in the facility.
7. Operate a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites.
Additional Details:
This is a Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectee is guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season for Redwood National and State Parks is November through mid-October, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT)
Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc.
Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Use of measuring Instruments
Ability to interpret instructions, specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
Knowledge of materials
