About the Position: The Mission and Installation Contracting Command delivers the power of Army contracting within the continental United States Strategic Support Area for Army forces to ensure globally dominant land force capability.
Duties
Reviews and approves milestones for formal procurement plans and monitors progress of sub-ordinates to assure timely expenditure of funds and accomplishment of mission.
Evaluates program effectiveness by review of reports, discussion with employees, and observation.
Interviews candidates for positions and make recommendations/selections for appointments, promotions, and reassignments.
Resolves difficult procurement and negotiation problems encountered by subordinates involving unprecedented matters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Acquisition certification within 36 months of entrance on duty.
- One year probationary period to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties may be required unless previously completed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as; 1) Assigning tasks to personnel according to the complexity of the assignment; 2) Advising Contracting Officers on administering and documenting of contract files; and 3) Utilizing contracting writing systems to upload contracting data, Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS) and other systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.
In addition to the meeting the specialized experience, the following Basic education requirement must be met:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) from an accredited educational institution.

Exemption: You are exempt from the education requirements above if (A) you are a current DoD employee, in any occupational series, who has served on or before September 30, 2000, as follows: (1) Served as a GS/equivalent-1102 position or contracting officer position with authority to award or administer contracts above the SAT in any Federal agency, OR (2) Served as a military member in a comparable military occupational specialty; OR (B) you are a current member of the armed forces who occupied a position within an occupational specialty similar to the GS-1102 series on or before September 30, 2000.Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
