The primary purpose of this position, Student Trainee ( Inventory Management) GS-2099-04 potential 05 is to provide a student trainee who has been appointed to an Air Force approved training program with on-the-job training and guidance to further student technical development.

Duties

Perform selected tasks and phases of routine studies and projects that require application of basic occupational field theory and principles in the technical area of inventory management. Participate with senior personnel in conducting non-routine projects. Provide assistance in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives.

Requirements

• Must meet suitability requirements for Federal employment
• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Must be enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying accredited institution
• Must sign a Participant Agreement
• U.S. citizen or national (resident of American Samoa or Swains Island)
• Must be eligible to work under U.S. immigration laws
• Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guidance
• You must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
• Accepted for enrollment or enrolled in an approved program
• Pursuing a Baccalaureate Degree (Junior/Senior only), Graduate or Professional Degree
• Enrollment must be at least half-time course load as defined by the education institution (typically six hours or equivalent for undergraduate and three hours or equivalent for graduate)
• Have a good academic standing (no less than 2.95 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale)
• Meet the qualification standards of the position
• Non-citizens may be eligible for employment if Permitted by the DoD Appropriation Act
• Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Pathways Internship Programs, and Air Force Qualification Standard for Schedule D, Pathways Student Position. You must submit copies of your transcripts with your application. To qualify for GS-04: Applicant must have completed 2 academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree in a related field of study. To qualify for GS-05: Applicant must have completed a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree or completed 4 academic years of pre-professional study. RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA): 1. Knowledge of basic occupational theory, principles, concepts, and practices in the technical area of inventory management. 2. Skill in applying basic occupational theory, principles, concepts, and practices sufficient to perform student trainee assignments. 3. Ability to follow instructions and guidance to complete assigned tasks and communicate information to others in oral or written format. 4. Ability to analyze problems, identify significant factors, gather and interpret pertinent data, and apply established rules and procedures in order to recommend effective solutions. 5. Ability to learn and apply basic investigative techniques to accomplish work in the subject-matter field. 6. Ability to gather and analyze basic facts, information, and data, and draw conclusions. Conversion Interns may be non-competitively converted to a term, career-conditional or career appointment within 120 days following successful completion of all of their educational and work experience requirements in accordance with 5 CFR 362.204.

To qualify for a GS-04: Completion of 2 academic years of post high school study or an associate's degree in a related field of study

To qualify for a GS-05: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or completion of 4 academic years of pre-professional study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
