You will serve as an ENGINEERING PSYCHOLOGIST in the FORCE TRAINING READINESS DEPARTMENT of COMNAVSURFPAC.
Duties
You will conduct research and analyze data to identify potential precursors to mishaps and human performance or safety risks.
You will provide and enforce a formal process for conducting research to include formal research proposals, institutional review board procedures, funding requests, regular progress reviews, research debriefing, and publication.
You will establish and evaluate existing and developing Human Systems Interface techniques and operation objectives.
You will optimize human well-being and overall system performance, applying theory, principles, and data regarding the relationship between humans and respective technology.
You will resolve operational safety problems and human factors hazards unique to the mission of the Naval Surface Forces and not addressed by regulatory guidelines.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional psychologist, analyzing and implementing Human Systems Interface (HSI) theories and techniques to develop or enhance operational safety programs and resolve human factors engineering problems for the optimization of system performance.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:
- Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
- Counseling psychology: For positions at grades GS-9 and above, satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required.
