About the Position: This position is with Army Health Center McDonald, Preventive Medicine Department
Duties
Receives calls, greets visitors, and directs to supervisor or other staff members only those contacts needing their attention or action
Composes correspondence on administrative support of clerical functions of the office
Maintains Division TDY and leave schedules for chief and Deputy Chief, PM. Prepares travel requests and all associated actions and documentation.
Types a variety of narrative and tabular material (i.e. correspondence, reports, technical papers, charts, messages, and other documents) .
Uses sample documents and correspondence manuals to determine how material should be presented.
Transmits, receives and acknowledges electronic mail and messages
Responsible for oversight of end of month reports for all PM sections and collection of data necessary for any end of month/year reports.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 44 lbs
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Requires a fully qualified typist.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with clerical duties such as, any of the following preparing or reviewing correspondences, utilizing an office automation software, scheduling meetings or appointments, assisting customers with inquiries and maintaining automated or paper files for the department. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05)
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
