This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as Technical Writer-Editor for the Army Medical Logistics Command (AMLC) Integrated Logistics Support Center (ILSC), Logistics and Technical Support Directorate (LTSD) Technical Information Management Branch (TIMB).

Duties

Serves as Technical Writer/Editor responsible for planning, organizing, researching, writing, editing and reviewing highly dynamic and complex technical manuals, process guides and equipment manuals. Serves as a Technical Writer-Editor project lead. Solves work problems and participates in the work of the team. Support the Team Lead in identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks, makes adjustments according to priorities, and supports and contributes to team accomplishments. Oversees the determination, review, and planning of technical publication requirements and ensures technical documentation will meet the intended use of equipment and systems. Supports the development, management and maintenance of the AMLC ILSC Knowledge Management Center (KMC) and/or similar database/repository of ILSC documentation.

  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Life Cycle Logistics Certification within 36 months of entrance on duty.
  • Occasional TDY may be required

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Duties; Writing Skills: Strong writing skills, including grammar, punctuation, and style, and ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely. Research Skills: Ability to research and gather information from various sources to understand and explain technical concepts accurately. Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with the specific technical subjects being documented, such as military equipment, procedures, or systems. Computer Proficiency: Proficiency in word processing software, desktop publishing tools, and document management systems. Attention to Detail: Must be meticulous to ensure accuracy in their documentation. Communication Skills: The ability to communicate with subject matter experts and military personnel to gather information and clarify technical details. Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing technologies and processes, as military equipment and procedures evolve. Specialized Experience is defined as having one year at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent pay band level in the Federal Service performing the following duties; 1. Writing technical manuals, process guides/ equipment manuals; 2. Researching policy and procedure documents to provide guidance to customers; AND 3. Editing technical publications such as; standard operating procedures, equipment support manuals, and sustainment plans to ensure technical accuracy.
