Duties

Salary contains multiple grades/steps. In most cases, the salary is set at the minimum salary for the grade applicant(s) is selected. Sacramento: $63736 - $98935 Fresno: $57118 - $89835 If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team. The incumbent for this position will serve as a district Litigation Support Specialist responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving Litigation Support and two or more other IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's office (USAO), Eastern District of California (EDCA), Sacramento or Fresno office. The USAO IT environment includes personal computers, routers, switches, bridges, a wide area network and local area network, operating systems, case management systems and litigation support operations. Typical work assignments will include: Performing litigation support tasks associated with day-to-day operation of the USAO litigation support systems. These duties include a variety of information technology support to meet USAO information needs utilizing network hardware and software capabilities, including specialty litigation support software; Coordinating litigation support services (including trial preparation and presentation) in response to customer needs; Performing testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, maintenance of litigation support resources used for the transmission of information in data, voice and/or video format; Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools; Developing, testing, and implementing internet, intranet, and extranet litigation support and IT activities, including technical management of websites. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.

Qualifications

Note: In order to be considered "qualified" for this position, your specialized experience must be described in your resume. GS-9:To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service as defined below; or one of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Information Science, Engineering, Computer Science): a Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an Ll.B.); OR 2 full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to such a degree. This education must have been in one of the following fields OR must have provided a minimum of 24 hours in one or more of the following fields and must have required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks: Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or Technology Management. Specialized Experience: You must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in Federal service, which is in or related to work in the litigation support field. Specialized experience is defined as assessing service and information requirements needed to complete automated litigation support services. This would include administration and maintenance of case evidence databases utilizing industry standard software such as Ipro Eclipse SE, Relativity, or Concordance; electronic data acquisition and processing; pre-trial preparation including creation of audio and video clips as well as other exhibit formats, and courtroom presentations. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year. GS-11:To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service as defined below; or possess a PH.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree AND this education must be either in one of the following fields OR provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the following fields and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management. Specialized Experience: You must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in Federal service, which is in or related to work in the Litigation Support field. Specialized experience is defined as assessing service and information requirements needed to complete automated litigation support services. This would include administration and maintenance of case evidence databases utilizing industry standard software such as Ipro Eclipse SE, Relativity, or Concordance; performing litigation support services including trial preparation and presentation; testing, configuring, installing, maintaining, and controlling litigation support equipment resources; providing input into litigation support planning and policy activities; training others on utilizing litigation support technology to organize voluminous case information, manage discovery obligations, and prepare efficiently and effectively for litigation; and familiarity and experience working with a variety of audio and video evidence formats. A combination of experience and graduate level education can be used if, when combined, are equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of the first two years is creditable. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
