The primary purpose of this position is to serve at an Air or Space Force installation. Major responsibilities include completion of administrative functions, budget execution, and implementation of primary prevention education and training for the total base population.

Duties

Ensures primary prevention education and skill building of two or more behaviors is implemented as designed, monitored for fidelity, and evaluated in accordance with DoD and DAF guidance. Supports the Installation Community Action Team (CAT) in executing established initiatives. Ensures program compliance with regulations, laws, policies, and directives associated with mandated administrative support programs. Performs other clerical and administrative work in support of the program(s). Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency.

  • Work may require travel away from normal duty station via military or commercial aircraft or motor vehicle to accomplish temporary mission assignments.
  • Must obtain, maintain and renew credentialing as required by a credentialing board identified by the DoD Board and specified in policy.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a behavioral, social science, or related discipline appropriate to this position is preferred. (*See OPM basic qualifications standards annotated under Classification Remarks.)
  • Knowledge and experience within primary prevention is highly desired.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekend, holidays, or shifts in order to accomplish mission requirements.
  • Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.
  • Given the sensitivity of the position, a criminal background check must be completed.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, 101 Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: Behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. or Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. or Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies as well as behavioral, social science and/or public health practices principles and theories relating to the prevention of violence. Providing knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to violence prevention and the multiple uses of such systems. Using knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Using various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. Communicating effectively, orally and in writing. OR EDUCATION: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. NOTE: You MUST provide an official copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You MUST provide an official copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in?-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Comprehensive and professional knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies as well as behavioral, social science and/or public health practices principles and theories relating to the prevention of violence. Thorough knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to violence prevention and the multiple uses of such systems. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
