THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AHA- IT SPECIALIST (CUSTOMER SUPPORT), Position Description Number T5906000 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing TOPEKA, KS, Forbes Field, Kansas Air National Guard.

Duties

As an IT SPECIALIST (CUST SUPPT), GS-2210-11, you will manage the assigned IT/communications environment with privileged access at the network level for the Wing, Geographically Separated Units (GSU), and Tenants. Plan, coordinate, install, and continuously analyze system design, hardware and software. Develop, recommend, and install solutions and upgrades to ensure availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of all components of the assigned system. Provide Information Assurance systems support for all disciplines, ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services. Perform system audits to assess security parameters and performance of IA controls within the network environment. Provide customer technical assistance and support for all users. Provide ongoing technical support to customers to ensure proper functional use of equipment and programs and to preclude undue interruptions to IT and communications services. Works with customers to ensure efficient operations which support each units' requirements. Other duties as assigned. Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK" Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements. The position under this announcement is being filled using the National Guard Accelerated Hiring Authority (NG AHA). Selection will be made through a process without applying traditional competitive rating and ranking procedures and where interviews are optional. Merit factors shall be the basis for selection. Merit factors are determined by the individuals' ability to perform the duties of the position. Merit is based on such factors as previous work experience, education, abilities, and competencies. In order to be referred, applicant must meet all general, specialized and education requirements of the position. Veterans Preference: Veterans' preference does not apply when referring and selecting individuals under this NG accelerating hiring authority; however, applicants are encouraged to still claim veterans preference and submit supporting documentation.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. "Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position."

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:
At the GS-11 level, a Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
