Duties
Serves as a benefits assistant in the Nonappropriated Funds (NAF) Benefits Office processing a wide variety of routine and complex benefits functions involving NAF benefits plans, retirement, health and life insurance, injury compensation, and portability of benefits. Provides technical customer support on a wide variety of benefits programs (medical/dental insurance, life insurance, retirement, 401(K), and flexible spending/savings accounts).
Performs functions such as determining eligibility; verifying coverage; examining, adjudicating, and processing claims for pensions and other benefits; validating employee service data; and communicating with service providers to respond to inquiries, resolve problems, and ensure delivery of benefits.
Ensures the maintenance of the automated personnel database. Establishes and maintains official folders, files and reports.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE CLEARLY VERIFIABLE IN YOUR RESUME. GOVERNMENT POSITIONS MUST INCLUDE PAY PLAN, SERIES, GRADE, TO AND FROM DATES, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCY/DEPARTMENT. Must include at least one year of experience performing duties at a level which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform successfully in the position.
Progressive work experience with demonstrated knowledge of and skill in applying fundamental Human Resources benefits rules, policies, and practices. Experience demonstrating the ability to communicate through written and verbal communications, such as preparing reports and/or delivering training or briefings. Experience using Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the demonstrated ability to work with a variety of human resources and/or benefits automated systems.
Highly qualified candidates will also possess experience in NAF or federal civilian HR in a recruitment, benefits and/or customer service position.
