This position is part of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As a Supervisory Program Specialist, you serve as the Deputy Director for the Workforce Management Office, reporting directly to the Workforce Management Director. As the Deputy Director, you will be the business strategic liaison and advisor to the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy leadership both at Headquarters and in the field.

- First time supervisors will be required to serve a 1 year probationary period.
- A preliminary background check must be completed before a new employee can begin work. Current Federal employees or other individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check.
- This position has been designated as requiring a PUBLIC TRUST background.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following:
Providing oversight and direction of work performed and executed by multiple teams in highly visible organization; while overseeing, planning, organizing, and coordinating team efforts across organizational lines, and monitoring progress to ensure that realistic objectives and milestones are established and met; AND
Providing management advisory on a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of workforce management program effectiveness or the improvement of complex management processes and systems; AND
Leading a customer-focused, multi-functional organization's workforce management program in developing and implementing improvements to human capital programs and service delivery to meet strategic goals; while providing strategic expert workforce management advice to various management levels throughout the agency.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated "well-qualified", which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
