About the Position: Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years, and may be made permanent without further competition.
This position is for the C4ISR Directorate
Duties
Troubleshoots complex electronic integrated systems composed of a number of subsystems and integrate into one system.
Calibrates and integrates subsystems and equipment into a functional system.
Troubleshoot electronic systems to determine malfunctions occurring in the system.
Fabricate test fixtures when required for electronic equipment.
Determine repair requirements, methods, techniques, tools, and equipment.
Provide technical instruction to lower level employees ensuring quality standards are met.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Twenty five percent business travel or temporary duty (TDY) requirement on an annual basis.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires shift work and overtime to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain the Associate Level Certified Electronics Technician certification per Electronics Technicians Association, International, within two (2) years of placement into the position.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain the Journeyman Level Certified Electronics Technician certification per Electronics Technicians Association, International, within four (4) years of placement into the position.
- Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic tasks including repairing, testing and troubleshooting integrated electronic systems composed of individual subsystems. Resolving deficiencies in test equipment and calibrating subsystems into a functional system. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical efforts: Light to moderate physical effort is required. Employee frequently lifts and carries up to 40 pounds. May occasionally lift heavier items with assistance. Work requires sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and working in cramped or awkward positions. Occasionally work in high places may be required. Must be able to distinguish colors and shades of colors to distinguish color codes.
Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Employee may be subject to injuries, such as electrical shock, cuts, bruises and burns. Work may be performed on aircraft, on ships, in high places, or outside in inclement weather.
