About the Position: This position is located in the Occupational Health Clinic, NBHC Portsmouth. The purpose of this position is to schedule physical exam appointments, ensure all documentation is complete and accurate, and assist in the administrative support of the clinic staff.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.
Duties
Review record with patient to determine programs needed.
Complete required computerized check-in and check-out procedures for all patients.
Prepare the necessary medical forms to ensure the employee receives a proper and complete physical examination.
Assist NBHC Radiation Health, Audiology, Optometry, Immunizations, and Radiology and Laboratory departments
Provide assistance to professional staff.
Maintain tickler system for follow-up on requests for medical information, re-treatment or reexamination of designated patients.
Request medical information to supplement occupational medical records when directed by medical staff or on own initiative if required.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes establishing and/or maintaining medical records for patients; utilizing electronic health record systems to prepare requests for information related to medical issues; and coordinating patient care activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
