About the Position: Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or detail NTE 1 year by a current permanent Army Employee. Temporary promotions or details may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition.

Duties

Prepare surfaces for paint by removing paint, rust, or surface imperfections by hand sanding, scraping, or using a wire brush. Use painting techniques such as cutting in edges with a paint brush. Perform visual inspection to ensure that coating finish meets surface protection requirements. Ensure the proper adjustment of ladders and scaffolding to safely and effectively complete tasks.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Obtain and Government Credit Card.
  • Obtain a U.S. Passport.
  • Shift work and overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends.
  • 50% business travel both CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Employee will be required to take mandatory annual HAZMAT training.
  • Must enroll in Tobyhanna Army Depot?s Respiratory protection program.
  • Successfully complete and pass pre-employment and annual physicals.
  • Must enroll in the Star4D training for blasters and/or painters.

To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. This requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Worker frequently lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment that weigh up to 10 pounds. Occasionally, incumbent may handle materials and equipment that weigh 40 pounds and over. Working Conditions: Work is normally performed inside well-lit, heated and ventilated shop areas. Worker is sometimes required to prepare and cost surfaces outside in bad weather. Worker is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, nise dust, and fumes. Worker is required to wear safety equipment and apparel appropriate to the position.
