The Supervisory Security Guard position is located at the Cheyenne River Health Center in Eagle Butte, SD. The incumbent is responsible for designing, developing, coordination, planning and improving the security department operation. Providing protective leadership to patients, employees, visitors and property. The position is subject to call back or to being placed on call, may work a rotational shift, which include days, evenings, night, weekends, holiday, and 8, 10, and/or 12-hour shifts.

Duties

Lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds. Responsible for annual planning and implementing the Security Department budget Assess needs, planning and implementing a Hospital wide security program. Prepares and maintains statistical and narrative reports of Security activities Responsible for department personnel management activities including recruitment, staffing, employee relations, labor management relations, awards, training and orientation Explains and issues orders to subordinates for accomplishments within established regulations and policies. NOTE: Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans' preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): OPM: Security Guard Series, 0085 GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of Specialized Experience examples: Overseeing a unit wide security program to ensure coverage around the clock; preparing staff schedules, resolving staff complaints, identifies staff training needs; provides surveillance of the environment by via foot and vehicle patrol. Planning and implementing budgets, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety and security regulations. Experience such as work with a federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protection of life. Such experience must have provided knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. Experience as a psychiatric nursing assistant or a similar position safeguarding patients is qualifying. Supervisory Abilities: This is a supervisory position and candidates, in addition to the professional qualifications listed, must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision, as required for this position.
