This vacancy is for an Administrative Specialist in the Office of Global Markets, International Trade Administration within the Department of Commerce.

Duties
As an Administrative Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Serve as office travel coordinator, attend meetings on behalf of Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS), ensure updates to travel policy are communicated to stakeholders.
Conduct review of all incoming correspondence, determining appropriate action, review outgoing correspondence and reports for proper format, accuracy, and all coordination of facts in accordance with established agency policy and establish and maintain files, procedures and administrative controls.
Maintain records management, evaluate current methods and develop and/or recommend new automation or paper methods of such operations.
Assist office staff in conducting research on a variety of international business-related issues to provide increased continuity and provide the office with the latest information on business policy issues.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify at the GS-09 level:
Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-7) in federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
Planning, reviewing, and coordinating administrative tasks;
Performing records management activities; and,
Applying established methods and techniques to solve administrative problems.
OR
Education Substitution: Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
Combination of education and experience.
To qualify at the GS-11 level:
Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-9) in federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
Conducting analysis to resolve administrative problems and presenting conclusions to leadership;
Evaluating methods of records management; and,
Providing advice and consultation regarding workflow issues.
OR
Education Substitution: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
OR
Combination of education and experience.
