Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for legal report development using computerized case tracking and record-keeping systems in the Docketing Unit of the Criminal Division in the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. Typical work assignments will include: - Ensures information is entered timely and accurately into databases and systems. - Utilizes automation techniques to produce valid and reliable data and data analyses based on the specific needs of the requestor: Updates databases and systems to record status changes in all items docketed. Recognizes data elements that are missing and locates as necessary. Receives and updates inquiries on case status from client agencies, the Court, USAO-DC staff, defense counsel and other individuals. Retrieves information using query routines or from hard copy reports. Performs necessary research to correct and update case records. Develops and maintains automated records from initial referral to final disposition and case file closure. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

To qualify as a GS-07 Docketing Technician, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-06 Federal level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience is defined as receiving, reviewing and analyzing case files and documents to determine the nature of interest and cause of action; developing, updating and maintaining data in automated records; maintaining and extracting data from automated databases; and reviewing reports to identify recurring errors, responding to inquiries and determining if data elements are missing. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
