You will serve as a TECHNICIAN (On-Site Installation Coordinator Technician) in the Guns Division (G3), Systems Integration Department (G) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV. This position is equivalent to the GS-09/10 level. The full performance to the GS-11/12 level. Salary will be based on geographic location.

Duties

You will will serve as a Technician and On-Site Installation Coordinator (OSIC) on the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) and Alteration Installation Team (AIT). You will support the execution of all shipyard/ship alterations/installation relating to the MK38 MOD 2, 3, and 4. You will perform installations while supporting contractor(s) or shipyard personnel performing ISEA/AIT tasks related to the MK38 Minor Caliber Gun Weapon Systems (GWS) as assigned or delegated by the ISEA/AIT Team Lead or Manager. You will perform AIT functions including cable construction, installation, connectorization, continuity tests, etc.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
  • You must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • You must be willing and able to work onboard ships.

Qualifications

TO QUALIFY FOR NT-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing, developing, and utilizing technical engineering methods and procedures to provide technical direction on the installation, repair, and modernization of shipboard guns or shipboard gun weapon systems to ensure operational readiness. TO QUALIFY FOR NT-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-02 (GS-05/08 equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: reviewing and interpreting technical engineering methods and procedures to perform engineering technician functions in support of shipboard guns or shipboard gun weapon systems to ensure operational readiness.
