This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Executive Secretariat under the Office of the Chief of Staff. The incumbent provides a wide range of program management and administrative support services to the Archivist, Deputy Archivist, and offices throughout NARA. The program consists of specialized work of considerable difficulty and complexity, with agency-wide, or in some cases, government-wide and related professional community impacts.

Duties

As an EXECUTIVE SECRETARIAT SPECIALIST, you will: Gather information and obtain background to brief or otherwise assist the Archivist and Deputy Archivist in meetings, speeches, tours, and other events. Research and preparation may include the selection or recommendation of themes, gathering and analysis of historical and/or statistical data from multiple sources, and/or audience analysis. Conduct in-depth analysis of high-level incoming correspondence and requests to the agency on the full range of topics spanning the agency's mission areas and responsibilities; identifies all issues involved, determines the appropriate method of response and the appropriate responder. Analyze existing and create new administrative requirements to enhance the Executive Secretariat's operational effectiveness and efficiency, to include clarifying existing administrative policies and requirements. Independently conduct short and long-term analytical studies to identify and propose solutions to management on policy issues and problems that affect agency wide programs, and that also may potentially involve issues that affect the initiatives or programs of other stakeholders or agencies.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Analyzing, reviewing and editing reports and/or written correspondence for items such as; grammar, adherence to policy, organization of material, appropriateness for intended audience AND Recommending policy or procedural changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of a program AND Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to obtain information to facilitate actions such as; analyses, justifications, agreements In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
