Duties

You will support the Tomahawk TPO All-Digital Sims Team in the application of Modeling and Simulation tools to the prediction and analysis of Tomahawk missile performance. You will design test matrices to answer specific performance and behavioral questions. You will apply the physical and analytical disciplines such as mechanics, ballistics, aerodynamics, control, electronics, computer technology, mathematics, probability, statistics, and engineering. You will perform analyses of operational and tactical situations, where data and information from multiple sources (military operations, intelligence, industry, technology, management, etc.) must be correlated, analyzed, evaluated, and applied. You will support the verification and validation of Modeling and Simulation tools. You will communicate results and conclusions of data analyses to fellow team members and leadership.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 through GS-11 grade level or pay band DP-03 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of Qualifying Specialized Experience: 1) Designing test matrices to answer specific performance and behavioral questions; 2) Creating simulation setups and managing test case execution; 3) Performing data analysis and drawing conclusions from simulation results; 4) Testing and debugging software developed by Modeling and Simulation developers; 5) Performing data analysis, drawing conclusions from simulation results, and reporting the findings to varying audiences. Applicants must possess:


0801 Series:
Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

1310 Series:

Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.
or
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In either above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.

1320 Series:

Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics

Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

1520 Series:
Degree: mathematics; or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.
or
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

The total course work in either above must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite.

1550 Series:
Bachelor's degree in computer science
or
Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
