You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Oceanography Center of FLT NUMER OCEANGPHY METEO CTR.
Duties
You will be responsible for the 24/7 support of systems used to create electro-optical, electro-magnetic and environmental modeling products.
You will provide and maintain SOPs and written troubleshooting documentation to Command Duty Officer and Computer System Watch Officers.
You will initiate, plan, coordinate, and execute the transition of new and emerging Electro Magnetic Warfare tactical technologies and techniques along with environmental modeling improvements from our research and development partners.
You will participate in inter-agency working group or committees to provide expert technical perspective and create long-range inter-agency plans with significant consequences for participating agencies.
Requirements

- Scheduled travel outside the Monterey area will be necessary to represent FNMOC at various reviews or professional meetings and to maintain personal contacts.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Utilizing theories, methods, and techniques of physical sciences and technologies such as chemistry, physics, engineering and computer sciences.
Using advanced knowledge of programming languages such as FORTRAN, C, or Python, for advanced operating systems such as UNIX or LINUX with a focus on software configuration management, and visualization of large scientific data sets.
Utilizing management skills such as leadership, interpersonal skills, customer service, decision-making, flexibility, organizational awareness, team building, and problem solving, to lead a team of subordinates.
Applying statistical methods and standard techniques for post-processing and evaluating numerical analysis and prediction products.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess.
- Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

- Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
