The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of the MAF Shop to include planning and performing design work of a conventional nature without technical instruction or guidance and identifies limits of the problems involved.
Duties
- Performs work planning responsibilities. Provides technical supervision and administrative duties over a diverse workforce. Plans use of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a daily or by-project basis.
- Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Observes work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems, reassign personnel within group supervised; and coordinates work among workers and other supervisors to maintain work progress to meet schedules.
- Performs administration responsibilities. Participates with employees in the development of performance plans and recommends them to supervisors. Advises employees of performance expectations and explains new work techniques, as required.
- Provides a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Supports the agency's EEO program through allocation of personnel to participate in community outreach and recruitment programs, ensures full cooperation of employees with EEO office officials.
- Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas. Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 - Electronic Equipment Installation And Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the Ability To Do the Work of an Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic Supervisor without More than Normal Supervision.

Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and /or test equipment common to trades supervised.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
