Employee will serve as a Facility Services Assistant aligned under Engineering Service located at the Veterans Affairs Mid-Atlantic Healthcare System in Fayetteville, NC.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for all areas of Maintenance and Operations Section and back-up support for all areas of Engineering Service, including Medical Centers, Outpatient Clinics, Vet Centers, Health Care Centers, etc. Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following: Serves as primary contact for emergency and routine repair and service calls for plant maintenance, preventive maintenance, projects, safety, equipment repair, utilities, and biomedical equipment. Manages, organizes, directs, controls, and reviews type of engineering disciple that is needed to evaluate the maintenance issues and dispatches appropriate staff and/or supervisor to address each call. Maintains the work order computer system and databases, maintains a log of all calls received, enters work order information and prints out work orders. Uses variety of computer software (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) to compile and analyze data and prepare reports and other documents. Issues work orders to all Engineering Service shops based on written, verbal, telephone, and electronic work order requests. Codes each work order to identify proper work action and assignment to the appropriate shop. Receives all completed work orders, reviews them for accuracy of data, and then closes work order using the Automated Engineering Management System (AEMS). Produces monthly reports to document utility system failures, utility system user errors, equipment failures, equipment user errors, life safety work orders initiated, and life safety work orders completed. Serves as purchase card holder. Monitors and advises on procurement of supplies, materials, equipment and services. Makes purchases not exceeding the micro-purchase limit. Reconciles purchase care charges and resolves discrepancies. Complies with acquisition regulations. Serves as timekeeper utilizing knowledge of pay and leave laws and regulations. This will be verified during interview.)-AND- SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: answering emergency and routine repair/service calls for preventive maintenance, safety, equipment repair, utilities, and biomedical equipment; determining engineering disciple that is needed and issues work orders to shops based on written, verbal, telephone, and electronic work order requests; using a variety of computer software (Outlook, Word, etc.) to enter work orders, maintain call logs, and to prepare a variety of correspondence and reports; serving as purchase card holder to purchase supplies, material, and equipment. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Administration and ManagementClericalComputer Skills IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although physical effort will be required to include walking, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 30 pounds on occasion.
