About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command (Theater) (7th SC(T)) G-2 Directorate responsible for all aspects of the Command's security programs.

Duties

Serve as the Branch Chief of the Information Security and Personnel Security Branch in the 7th Signal Command (Theater) (7th SC(T)) G-2 Directorate. Develop and disseminate 7th Signal Command (Theater) Security directives, policies and procedures. Plan, prepare, and present security briefings, lectures, and classes to command personnel. Provide leadership, mentorship and professional development for a security staff supporting the execution of command security programs throughout the Western Hemisphere. Develop regulations and security policies for multiple security specializations. Plan, review, and directly supervise the work of security specialist and military personnel involved in the areas of information security, personnel security, industrial security and Security Education Training Awareness (SETA). Evaluate and report on employee performance. Plan training(s) needed for employee development and office operations. Make recommendations for changes in policy and for implementing instructions covering established security techniques, practices, and methods.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. Please see the Additional Information section for more details.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and be eligible for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • May be required to take a counterintelligence scope polygraph examination, if required for Special Access Program.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel may be required 25% or less of the time.
  • May be required to carry a government cell phone when conducting Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) On-Call or other On-Call duty outside of normal duty hours.
  • May be required to be on a 15-20 minute recall string.
  • May be required to be trained to open/close the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
  • May be required to work occasional shifts, holiday work, and compensatory/paid overtime as required.
  • May be required to work additional non-standard duty hours during crisis or to meet mission tasking.

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
