About the Position: This position is located at the US Army Installation Management Command, Public Affairs Office, Fort Moore, GA. The MCOE is located 100 miles south of Atlanta, GA., and is adjacent to Columbus, GA and Phenix City, Alabama.

Duties

Execute an Army installation public information program with a focus on informing and/or obtaining feedback from external audiences concerning various programs, policies, services and regulations. Write information materials designed to reach national audiences through the news media such as social media, radio, television, newspaper, etc. Establish working relationships with media personnel and other public affairs officials of State governments, extension services and other cooperating agencies and citizen organizations. Use communication methods and techniques to disseminate informational material to the general public or specialized target groups.

Requirements

  • This is temporary position
  • This position requires the incumbent to provide coverage during the weekends, holidays, or special situations on an unscheduled basis or on-call basis.
  • Supervisory probation is required (if applicable)

Specialized Experience GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing newsletters or other communications for distribution to the general public; execute information programs that communicate agency policies, programs, and/or actions; establish working relationships with media personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Affairs, Public Relations, Marketing, etc. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes design, plan, and direct or advise on the public affairs program in an agency, or organization within an agency. Develop and disseminate informational materials to the general public or specialized target groups within the installation.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Affairs, Marketing. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
