About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Emergency Services, Fort Stewart, GA.
Duties
Responsible to the Chief of Police for the day-to-day operations of law and order functions on the installation.
Develops plans and schedules for subordinate supervisors for the accomplishment of assigned missions
Responsible for planning, developing, implementing and monitoring the law enforcement training program for Department of the Army Police Officers.
Coordinates work operations with other organizations on matters that may adversely affect other operations or programs.
Writes updates, policy letters, memorandums, and guidelines pertaining to the conduct and performance of assigned law enforcement activities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Temporary Duty Travel of 10% may be required.
- Pre-employment and annual physical examinations are required.
- Preemployment and subsequent random drug testing is required.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Must pass the Physical Agility Test (PAT).
- Must obtain and maintain current required certifications and skill proficiency with assigned weapon. Will be required to perform a weapons qualification test commensurate with assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Must meet reliability and suitability standards prescribed by the Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program (AR 190-56.)
- May work rotating shifts and other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and overtime.
- Must wear uniform and may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, shields, and body armor.
- Incumbent is required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- This is an inclement weather essential position.
- This position is designated as Mission Essential (ME).
- Must attend and pass Department of the Army Civilian Police Course.
- Must pass a Criminal History Background Check.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Incumbent is subject to removal from the position if convicted of a felony in accordance with Section 639 of P.L. 106-554 effective January 20, 2001.

Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes managing police officers and conducting current/long range operations planning based on funding, staffing requirements, workload, trends and mission requirements in the areas of law enforcement and security functions; distributing work and resources, as well as management of supplies and training; working with Freedom of Information Act requests, and developing methods and procedures affecting the overall police mission. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
