About the Position: Lead employees engaged in performing operations such as receiving, safety checking, pressure checking, storing, repackaging, and shipping of large missiles and rockets. Also responsible for maintaining records for a complete warehousing operation.
This is a Bargaining Unit position AR3135.
Duties
Serve as a working leader providing work instructions to employees for daily missile material handling tasks.
Give direction to a number of employees in accomplishing trades and labor type work
Advise workers on proper procedures and techniques to be used based on the nature of assignment.
Perform missile material handler duties including but not limited to receiving, issuing, shipping, storing, and re-warehousing a wide variety of ammunition, explosives, guided missiles, propellants, and rockets.
Establish the order in which the receiving, shipping, or storing functions will be done.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is a Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- This position requires an Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AAE) Security Certification/Screening in accordance AR 190-11.
- This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain an installation's forklift operator license.
- This position requires you possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Missile Materials Handler Leader without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common task including giving directions to a number of employees in accomplishing trades and labor work associated with the manufacturing, maintenance, and demilitarization of ammunition, explosives, and ammunition components, passing on instructions received from supervisor, demonstrating work procedures, checking work for compliance and providing status reports and ensuring needed plans, blueprints, materials and tools are available. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort - This position frequently lifts objects weighing 30 to 45 pounds. All lifts over 50 pounds will be assisted with a two person lift or using a mechanical handling equipment lifting device. The two person lift limit is 100 pounds and will only be used for single event, non-routine lifts. May pull or push hand trucks weighing several hundred pounds. The work requires sitting, walking, bending, reaching, crouching and long periods of standing. Endurance and eye-hand coordination are required to work at a set pace and rhythm for long periods.
Working ConditionsThis position performs work indoors or outdoors, in unheated igloos or magazines in all weather conditions. You are required to stand on floors made of concrete, dirt, damp and drafty areas.
