The incumbent serves as the principal office assistant to the Fort Worth Outpatient Clinic (FWOPC) Executive Office Operations Administrator; Chief Ambulatory Care, and the Administrative Officer at the North Texas VA Health Care System (NTVAHCS) in Fort Worth, TX. The incumbent is responsible for the full range of comprehensive clerical and administrative support duties. This is an Office of Automation (OA) Assignment.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, i.e. identity, purpose of call and relative importance in relation to availability of staff members.
Manages all office administrative tasks such as schedule management, filing, coordinating meetings, composing letters and memorandums.
Provides information within standard office procedure, generally pertaining to any of the duty areas herein described.
Guides and assists personnel concerning procedures of preparation of correspondence.
Assists in collecting and organizing data to perform assignments where both substantive and administrative information must be obtained and furnished.
Reviews documents prepared for signature of or requiring coordination by management for appropriate tone.
Uses various functions of several types of office automation systems such as word processing, databases, and graphic software.
Reads all incoming correspondence, determines proper action.
Reviews outgoing correspondence and reports prepared by the administrative services and ensures proper format, spelling, mathematical correctness, and correct grammatical content.
Thoroughly screens material prior to distribution for suspense dates, establishes controls, and follows up on responses which are due.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/08/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Adheres to standard office procedures when proving information to customers; coordinating the administrative or clerical work of an office to include maintaining suspense files; guides and assists personnel concerning procedures of preparation of correspondence; reviews documents prepared for signature of or requiring coordination by management for appropriate tone; uses various functions of several types of office automation systems such as word processing, databases, and graphic software; reads and processes incoming correspondence and material; relates well to different people from varied backgrounds and different situations.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
