The Office of the Executive Secretariat (OES) is seeking Policy Analysts to join a fast-paced office that provides direct support to Department leadership. OES has a broad portfolio, including managing the Department of Justice's (DOJ) internal clearance process for decision documents addressed to senior leadership. A Policy Analyst works with a Senior Counsel who is handles interagency clearance and coordination. The Policy Analyst performs a range of duties, including:
Participating in the review and clearance of interagency policy documents involving current issues of Department-wide concern to senior policy officials.
Executing special projects of studies assigned by OES leadership.
Serving as a liaison between OES and its customers, including the Department's Office of Legal Policy and Executive Secretariats at other agencies.
Developing research strategies, collecting and analyzing data, and writing reports.
Advising management on program-related issues and policy guidelines, including drafting OES policies and guidance.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
- You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on or after 12/31/1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Policy Analyst at (GS-0301-12), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.
If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF-50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).
Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: Assessing the impact laws, regulations, policies, or precedents may have on programs; Analyzing data to establish the scope, depth, or underlying assumptions of policy issues or problems; AND Preparing project papers or briefings to encourage understanding or acceptance of findings or recommendations.
