This is a Temporary Appointment; initial appointment is not to exceed 12 months. Temporary Appointments may be extended up to 24 months.
Duties
This job opportunity is located in the Quality Assurance and Analysis Section, Document Services Branch, National Processing Center (NPC), Jeffersonville, IN. This position performs lead statistical assistance duties, in support of programs by assisting statisticians in collecting, processing, tabulating, analyzing, editing and presenting data. This position is included in the bargaining unit.
The individual selected for this position will:
Notify supervisor of problems in the printed materials, ink jet labeling, packaging, assembly, receipt of materials, kit assembly, staging, and shipping operations; and initiate - respond to contacts from supervisor, sponsor liaison and staff from other branches to ascertain the priorities to meet mailout deadlines.
Obtain the specifications on the printed and assembled materials when shipments of materials are received from an outside contractor.
Be responsible for leading statistical assistants or clerks at various locations through the National Processing Center, as well as off-site at commercial contractors (Travel) to perform inspections on printed materials, bindery, folding and shipping operations.
Use computer-aided quality assurance software to initiate inspections, audit completed inspection records, summarize inspection data to utilizing tools within software, and perform guided assurance inspections.
Train staff on calibrating color density equipment used to ensure accurate reading; and distribute and balance the workload, maintain up to date rotation list, maintain awareness of status and progress of the work and report on estimated time of completion of the work.
Tour of Duty: Hours will be 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. Alternate Work Schedule is available. Alternate Work Schedule is an 80-hour biweekly basic work requirement that is scheduled in less than 10 days; i.e., eight 9-hour days/nights, one 8-hour day/night, and one day off. Positions may include evening or weekend work, hours will vary.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: You qualify at the Grade 06 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the Grade 05 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as knowledge of quality assurance methods, collecting, editing, and compiling data for receipts of materials; checking data for conformance to established patterns; using statistical measures or specified formulas as it relates to quality assurance.
Education cannot be substituted for the Grade 06.

Selective Factors:
Physical demands - This position is primarily sedentary, but requires some walking, stooping, bending, and lifting of items not to exceed 50 pounds.
Working conditions - The work is primarily performed in a typical office setting but will require off-site travel to contractor's facilities and working in a typical warehouse setting that may lack adequate climate control.
Travel - May have to travel 10% of the time.
