You will serve as a SUPERVISORY COMMUNITY SERVICE SPECIALIST in the MARINE CORPS COMMUNITY SERVICES of MARCORPSBARRACKS.

Duties

You will define, develop, and promote Recreation and Mess programs supporting the Marine Corps objectives of retention, readiness, fitness and substance abuse reduction for authorized patrons. You will ensure responsible use of manpower and facilities and establishment of sound business procedures, hours of operation, services, inventory levels, prices, fees, procurements and capital improvements. You will coordinate with other installations in the development of management plans to ensure all administrative and technical areas are covered. You will ensure positive customer service programs are a priority throughout the department for the maintenance of harmonious relationships among patrons and management personnel. You will direct the preparation of budget estimates from each operational element and formulate and administer the department of non-appropriated funds and appropriated funds. You will ensure adequate resources are available to accomplish near and long-term mission objectives. You will oversee a team of employees and review work to ensure completion of mission requirements.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing a community service and/or Morale, Welfare, and Recreation program; organizing a managing a diverse staff (i.e. civilians, military, and/or NAF); performing financial management and business operations tasks; and running/overseeing a multitude of community service programs.
