You will serve as a SECURITY GUARD in the Security Department of NAS PENSACOLA SEC DET.
Duties
You will check individuals for proper security credentials, verify functionality of badging system, and prevent access to persons without proper credentials.
You will interview persons to obtain or verify information related to suspicious persons or activity.
You will use a computer system and software to prepare written reports of unusual situations and conditions encountered.
You will monitor alarms and surveillance equipment and respond rapidly to a detected intrusion.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Must pass an initial Physical Agility Test within 60 days of hiring and to retest annually.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards.
- Must obtain and maintain current certification for CPR and First Aid.
- Be able to discern colors, contrast, and depth IAW OPM standards.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate six months of general experience performing administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work that involved following written procedures, rules, or regulations in contacts with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information, AND I have six months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-03) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided knowledge of protective systems and techniques.

Education
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of at least two full academic years of education above high school
