About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.
Duties
Repair, modify, overhaul, reassemble, test, and troubleshoot aircraft transmissions independently and as a member of one or more overhaul teams that is focused on major components of the transmissions or on specific transmissions.
Troubleshoot complex components of the transmission and the entire transmission to determine the area of difficulty, parts required, and the methods and procedures to follow in completing work.
Assist quality inspectors, engineers, etc., in special investigations, studies, and audits.
Provide guidance to lower grade mechanics and helpers.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Aircraft Mechanical Parts Repairer without more than normal supervision. Resumes will be reviewed for the following plan, lay out, and perform work involving disassembly, examination, repair, modification, overhaul, reassembly, test, and troubleshooting on aircraft transmissions and gear box components; skill in diagnosing the cause of operational failures, determining the extent of repairs, and whether to rework or replace worn or damaged parts IAW technical data and specifications - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort- Work frequently requires handling objects up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment (i.e., hoist). Is required to lift, reach, bend, walk, pull, push, sit, and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Working Conditions- Usually performs work inside areas that are adequately lighted, ventilated, and heated. Is frequently exposed to loud noise from the movement of machinery and test equipment; possibility of cuts, burns, strains, electrical shock, and abrasions from handling equipment or from moving parts of machinery; and to unpleasant conditions from dirt, solvents, fuel, fumes, grease, and gases. Worked performed in transmission test cells can be unpleasant because of exposure to hot and oily conditions. Floor surfaces may be wet, oily, or slippery. Various protective devices such as ear plugs, face shields, gloves, safety glasses are used. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of the position.
