About the Position: You will serve as the principal staff advisor to the Garrison Commander and staff principals on all matters involving public affairs issues and the creation of communication policy. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating and directing public affairs support for all organizations on the installation.

Duties

You will plan a total coordinated information program, identifying and analyzing communication needs, concerns and attitudes of various publics as they relate to programs, policies and activities of the community and its higher headquarters. You will serve as the sole official spokesperson and primary contact for local and national media that require immediate responsiveness. You will respond to media queries, prepare and review information for dissemination to various public entities for security, propriety and accuracy to Army policy, and assist representatives in obtaining information relating to the garrison. You will oversee internal information programs through the garrison digital newspaper, as applicable, the garrison website and other internal communication media and forums. You will provide community relations advice and counsel to installation garrison commander, deputy garrison commander and applicable staff agencies and principles in order to best position the installation in view of the public.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • Position requires travel for business up to 15% of the time.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
