This position is located in the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Passport Services, Minneapolis Passport Agency (CA/PPT/MN) with the Department of State.
Duties
Plans, schedules, and prioritizes the work of subordinate staff and adjusts assignments as needed.
Monitors the overall quality of work of the team by periodically reviewing the performance of each subordinate employee, including a thorough review of adjudicated applications before and/or after issuance.
Reviews the full scope of adjudicative decisions made by subordinates to confirm that correct interpretations of laws and regulations were applied, and proper decisions were made.
Assists the Customer Service Analysts in implementing training programs within the region for passport agency/center employees, managers, and acceptance agents.
Assists in the development and delivery of fraud training for agency/center staff and works with the Fraud Program Manager (FPM) to provide additional fraud prevention training if the review of subordinates' work indicates the need.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience may have been gained in work such as developing, examining, investigating, adjudicating, or authorizing claims arising under the immigration and/or nationality laws of the United States.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience adjudicating passport applications that are received from either across the United States or from customers applying in person at a service window.
Experience reviewing, investigating, and/or re-adjudicating problematic and potentially fraudulent applications.
There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-12 grade level.
