Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management, Talent Management Directorate, CBP Hiring Center, Classification Branch located in Bloomington, MN.

Duties

This position serves as the first-line supervisor of the Classification Operations Team and provides a full range of advisory services to employees and managers regarding position classification and position data integrity. This position starts at a salary of $106,858.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $138,913.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $138,913 (GS-13 Step 10). MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Directing, planning, and administering the Classification Operations program for CBP. Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates based on broad organizational goals as well as specific local benchmarks. Evaluating subordinate staff, providing coaching, and recommending training based on the needs of each employee. Assuring uniform application of all administrative and operational policies and procedures, coordinating all related responsibilities, and resolving problems encountered in day-to-day operations. Establishing and maintaining rapport with internal and external customers relative to the provision of services.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Leading, advising, consulting and providing guidance on HR concepts, laws, regulations, policies and practices in the area of Position Classification. Researching and analyzing innovative methods, trends, and strategies to resolve Classification problems. Developing and implementing strategic goals and policies for a changing workforce. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 09/06/2023.
